Amidst the whirlwind of midterms and assignments, the talented residents of Hall 4 managed to find time for some exciting extracurricular activities. Brimming with student-initiated projects, the hall became a hub of vibrant energy, offering a much-needed break from the academic grind. One such thrilling event was a chess tournament, expertly organized by our very own year 2 residents, Grisha, Yernur, and Aumio.

The response to the tournament was overwhelming, with a whopping 32 participants eagerly vying for victory. From beginners to seasoned players, the atmosphere was electric as everyone focused intently on their moves, strategizing for the ultimate checkmate. Each game witnessed intense concentration, with only one player from each pair advancing to the next stage. Nevertheless, the spirit of camaraderie prevailed, with enthusiastic support for all the competitors.

As the tournament progressed, anticipation reached its peak in the nail-biting finals, played under a 5+5 rapid time limit. The battle for the third spot between Farrell and Cheryl showcased remarkable skills, resulting in Farrell emerging triumphant with a resounding 2-0 victory.

Meanwhile, the clash between Hans and Akib for the top two positions was an epic showdown that kept everyone on the edge of their seats. Despite being considered the underdog, Hans delivered a stunning performance, sweeping Akib aside with an impressive 2-0 score.
