Foundation Stone

CityU Student Residence29 September 2000

The Honourable Anson Chan, Chief Secretary for Administration of the HKSAR Government, officiated at the Student Hostels Foundation Stone Laying Ceremony. The ceremony marked the commencement of construction of 9 accommodation blocks, marking CityU's transition to a residential university.

The construction of the Student Residence for CityU begins.

Student Residence usher in New Era

Aug 2002

The completion of Student Residence(Phase I) marked the beginning of a new chapter of CityU, some 800 students first experienced hostel life on the CityU Campus and witnessed the CityU's transition to a residential university.

Sept 2002

The 1st group of residents move in. Dr. CHAN Kwok Hong, Raymond becomes the first Residence Master of Hall 2.

Orientation Night(Prosperians Night) was held for the first time, attracting more than half of the residents. On the same day, the tradition of "Hall Photo" taking begins.

The temporary Residents' Association is formed by committee members from different floors. Hall 2 is the 1st hall to have its own Residents' Association.

HSBC Prosperity Hall

Sponsored by HSBC, Hall 2 was officially named "HSBC Prosperity Hall, 滙豐業昕堂". The naming ceremony was held on 27 Feb 2004.

The 1st Polling of the Residents' Assocation was held with more than 90% of the residents participated in voting. The 1st official Residents' Association formed.

The 2nd Residence Master

Dr. Kevin Downing becomes the new Residence Master.

Hall 2The language of the hall Annual Publication 昕物 changed to English, students from all over the world may enjoy it.
